Abstract
An improved formula is suggested for the estimation of the diffraction angles of surface plasmon polaritons via dielectric or metal-dielectric ridge gratings. We propose on-axis and off-axis directional beaming structures designed by this formula and prove their appropriateness using rigorous numerical calculations. A plasmonic beam focusing structure is also proposed.
