Abstract
New audio reproduction systems like the wave field synthesis (WFS) need to be synchronized with current 35 mm motion picture films. The problem is that current 35 mm film reels do not have additional place for synchronization tracks. Occupied places on reel are used by traditional multichannel audio systems. This paper presents a new method for synchronization of audiovisual content in movie theater applications i.e. in case of the existence of new audio systems. This method uses external time code generation and has a synchronization accuracy of plusmn0.5 ms. This high accuracy is achieved using the algorithmic blocks: correlation, sample rate conversion as well as meta data extraction.
