Abstract :
This paper examines the use of a non-quadratic adaptive algorithm known as the Least Mean Mixed-Norm (LMMN) for the design of adaptive beamformers in smart antenna systems. It is shown that the proposed LMMN algorithm reduces the mean square error (MSE) indicating that it has a faster convergence rate when compared to the standard LMS algorithm. The improved performance of the proposed LMMN algorithm is also verified from the output beam pattern which shows deeper nulls towards interferring signals.
