Abstract :
An exact analysis of the quantization error of the single-loop single-stage sigma-delta modulator with a multilevel quantizer and single-bit feedback is given. It is shown that the output sequence of this system is identical to that of a coder using a multilevel digital-to-analog converter (DAC) in the feedback loop provided that an extra bit is available in the forward quantizer
