Abstract :
This; paper describes the recent development for the short circuit strength of the shell-form transformer. The conductor strength, the coil vibration analysis considering the oil motion, and genetic algorithm application in the tank design are presented. The short circuit strength of the 250 MVA, 500 kV, single phase prototype transformer is also mentioned. This prototype transformer had been designed to achieve approximately 50% volume reduction compared with our conventional transformer by reducing the number of interleaved coil groups.
