Abstract :
The performance of dynamic channel assignment (DCA) schemes is evaluated. As a performance measure, the assignment failure rate is used. It is defined as the relative number of calls not assigned a channel at some instant in time. A lower bound on the assignment failure rate is derived as a function of the call traffic load in a one-dimensional cellular system. The lower bound is compared with the performance of a centralized interference adaptive channel assignment scheme. Simulation results show that the assignment failure rate of the centralized scheme is close to the lower bound
