Abstract :
Summary form only given. The main focus of the ultrawideband wireless research is a system architecture design and demonstration of broadband indoor wireless digital communications system concepts, capable of supporting ATM at transport bit rates up to about 160 Mb/s for broadband wireless LANs. The interest of the current research activities is on indoor wireless systems, emphasizing the physical layer, with carrier frequencies within the 20 to 60 GHz frequency range (EHF band), because of the relative abundance of available bandwidth in this range. The results showed that the EHF band is promising to support future high data rate WLANs with a channel capacity close to 13 MSymbol/s, in-room confined communication link, therefore, reducing their vulnerability and interference-free systems allowing frequency reuse in contiguous rooms.
