Abstract
In this paper, a novel UHF radio frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna is presented for wireless sensor applications. The proposed meandered dipole loop antenna is designed on 0.25 mm thick paper substrate. The design is optimized for region specific UHF RFID bands used in Europe, North and South America and Japan. We have achieved a maximum gain of 1.8 dBi with a reduced tag dimension of 3 inch x 1 inch. The key feature of this antenna is its wide space left on purpose, to be integrated with printed sensor that will allow remote sensing capabilities. Moreover, this RFID tag antenna is comparatively more cost effective, compact and easy to fabricate.
