Abstract
The radio-astronomical technique of aperture synthesis is proposed for use in medical applications to give, non-invasively, a thermal image of a large fraction of the body to a depth of several centimetres. The operating principles are discussed and some possible applications given, including cancer screening and the accurate monitoring of hypothermia treatment.
