Abstract
A computer aided design and characterisation technique, based on comprehensive physical device models, is described which has been applied to MMIC oscillator circuits. The technique uses time-domain device and circuit simulations to predict the frequency, power, stability and noise properties of MMIC oscillators. The technique also allows the optimum geometry of the active devices to be obtained. Examples of both fixed frequency and VCO designs are given in the text.
