Abstract :
Multi-channel assignment is a NP hard problem. The high mobility in vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) makes the problem even harder. To avoid the impact of mobility, we propose a MIMC assignment method for VANETs based on road maps (MIMC-Road). When the channels are assigned according to the road topology instead of the topology between nodes, the mobility effects are eliminated. MIMC-Road can utilize the multiple channels with low overhead while keeps the network connectivity as good as single channel network. Simulations show that MIMC-Road can notably improve the throughput of VANETs, and keep steady performance with channel switching delay and position information drifting errors.
