Abstract :
Summary form only given.Recently, the utilization of Web applications to accomplish every-day tasks within firms is increasing which leads to more and more complex Web applications. In addition to that the interlocking between several Web applications raises the complexity furthermore. The users, on the other hand, utilize Web applications to accomplish specific business tasks in the most efficient way. Consequently, too many navigation possibilities in such systems and business tasks, being scattered over one, two, or even more Web applications bear the risk that end users loose their motivation to use such systems. A solution for this problem is to optimize the navigation possibilities within such applications according to specific business tasks which users want to perform. We propose an optimization approach using a graph-based model that represents the logical structure of Web applications. This basic model is augmented by process graphs corresponding to specific tasks the Web application can be used for. Based on this model we show how the navigational structure of process graphs can be optimized by applying the formalism of graph transformation.
