Abstract :
Multidimensional displacement must be measured for quantitatively imaging blood flow and tissue movement. The lateral modulation method is a unique approach to obtaining lateral displacement by generating a laterally oscillating RF signal. However, the method is basically designed for linear scanning and requires a large aperture for measuring a wide area, consequently it is not suited to small probes. We propose a 2-D displacement measurement method that can be used with small apertures for cardiovascular diagnosis by designing a suitable beam scan path and lateral modulation.
