Abstract
With development of RS and GIS, research in land use is a hotspot at present. Using RS images in 1986 and 1996 as data source; synthesizing to carry on land use classification of Xian Tao city. The law of land use changes is: cultivated land area has been declining; woodland is in a little growing magnitude; water and unused land grow to the high trend. Comprehensive index of Xiantao land use increases and the efficiency has in a little rising. Next, we study changes of Xiantao city using some landscape indicators such as FRACT, SHAPE, AWMPFD, AWMSI, PD, SHDI, SHEI and so on to study landscape features and dynamic changes from various levels. The results show: some changes have occurred on landscape features. The average landscape patches show increased trend of fractal dimension. The landscape shapes become more complex.
