Abstract
Air-cooling PEMFC(Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell ) has many advantages, such as simpler structure, small size, lower energy consumption, easy for controlling and so on. It has been widely applied as the portable power source. The membrane electrode assembly of the PEMFC has to be wet for the fuel cells to work efficiently. So the humidity balance is one of the most important factors causing fuel cell degradation and jeopardize. In air-cooling PEMFC, purging is used to remove water droplets and residue of inert gas form the anode side of the fuel cell to keep humidity balance. In this paper, a new purging control strategy of air-cooling PEMFC based on fuzzy method is proposed. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm can keep the fuel cells working efficiently and reduce the hydrogen consumption.
