Abstract :
Addressing the characteristics that the ArcGIS has relatively weak support to China´s standard drawing of basic scale map form, and is unable to generate marking information automatically and repeatedly use the same decoration elements, this article adopts the Element under ArcEngine components to implement the map decoration with1:50 000 plotting scale. The system can draw out the decoration contents automatically at the corresponding positions of the map, and can avoid the complexity of purely hand mapping and eliminate the possibility of personal error by reading the attribute information of the kilometer grid to draw the marks of the kilometer grid, and by connecting to the place-name database to automatically add the map-name and map-number information of current mapsheet and adjacent mapsheet. All the map form contents generated by the system are in accordance with the stipulations of China´s 1:50 000 plotting scale map form standard, and have played important role in the drawing of the remote investigation results of China´s islands and coastal zones. The article presents in detail the associated ideas of function design and the implementation process.
