Abstract :
This paper presents a series of calculating formulas for the optimal PLL bandwidth of a phase-locked microwave oscillator. The derivations of these formulas are according to the fact that the noise spectral densities of VCO are various possible distributions and the noise spectral density of the reference source is white PM. The experimental adjustment method of the optimal PLL bandwidth and its resul t are also given. The appendices of the concerned derivations and the total table of the precise and approximate calculating formulas for the optimal PLL bandwidth at the end of the paper are provided for reference.
