Abstract
This paper discusses the study carried out for comparative demographic and biomedical explorations in two settlements of Aging Buryat autonomous area: the Alkhanai settlement, placed in ecologically clean region, and Orlovskyi settlement where, during some decades, the work is on mining and processing enterprise, getting rare metals by open way. The study showed the negative tendencies in the demographic structure, greater morbidity and the wider spectrum of different pathologies in the Orlovskyi settlement. With the help of cytogenetic method it was shown that in the selection of the population of the Orlovskyi settlement the frequency of the chromosome aberrations and radiation markers surely exceed the control level. It has taken into account the possible radiation pollution with the complex of unfavorable factors while planning for further ecological and medical explorations in the region.
