Abstract :
A novel broadband multistage single sideband detector is presented that employs a digital phase modulation produced by cascaded binary phase shifterse The system described in this paper makes use of two or three digital phase shifters and achieves at least an image sideband suppression of 40 dB and the dynamic range may be as high as 70 dB. The phase shifters must be decoupled and should yield reproducible phase shift and insertion loss changes during the short time of a measurement cycle.
