Abstract :
With the rapid development of automobile industry in China, automotive emission has become the main source of the air pollution in city. Purifying automotive emission by the means of using automotive emission controlling catalyst is one of effective ways for controlling pollution. Traditional rare metal catalyst is well performed, but expensive and easily being affected by S, P, Pb and so on, causing so called of catalyzer poisoning. Rare earth perovskite-type oxide catalyst as a substitute for traditional rare metal catalyst has a great potential to purify automotive emission due to good catalytic activity and low cost. The developing history and current status, the catalytic mechanisms and major preparation technologies of rare earth perovskite-type oxide catalyst are reviewed, and the development prospect is forecasted.
