Abstract :
Crime and the fear of crime in the community are significant problems today. Lack of security and a lack of a sense of security are also important issues. The paper describes a new approach to help integrate security services and deliver them to the community in an appropriate, timely and cost effective way. The concept of a community security intranet, designed to help combat crime in the community, is developed and outlined. Early example applications are reported, including a trial of a novel messaging service with Suffolk Constabulary. This approach could help to rebuild communities and improve neighbourliness and security
