Abstract :
Very fast transient overvoltage caused by disconnector switching of a short bus is investigated in 110 kV GIS. The overvoltage peak and rise time at the transformer´s terminals are calculated. The voltage distributions in transformer windings under transient overvoltage are shown in this paper. Several representative curves in the transformer windings are illustrated. The maximum overvoltage and electric field intensity generated in coils of wire and in wire turns are given. It is essential for the transformer´s insulation design
