Abstract :
Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a dynamic decentralized network consisting of randomly moving wireless Mobile Nodes (MNs) that cooperatively perform the routing discovery without specific user administration. Since in this network area each node moves in an arbitrary manner, the network topologies change frequently. In recent years availability of small, inexpensive low-powered GPS receivers and other types of positioning services provide rationalization for applying position-based routing methods in mobile ad hoc networks. This paper proposes a routing protocol called PLAR for mobility models in which the target of motion is known. This protocol suggests new location services to provide location information for each node. location information such as geographic coordination, current speed and direction of motion is used to predict the position of destination node. In addition, incorporating the “Information Life Time” in the location service as a prominent factor to evaluate the freshness of location Information has led to more precise predictions in the routing process. The study of simulation results shows that the overhead of the PLAR protocol is less than the overhead found in LAR, and in conclusion, this protocol has found to be sufficient for a dynamic environment with high speed like the vehicular networks.
