Abstract
This paper investigates the maximum torque per Ampere (MTPA) control of switched reluctance motor (SRM) via optimization of the current waveform. The MTPA problem is redefined using the SRM model and a generic current profile. Theoretical derivation of the optimal current excitation is presented. Finite element simulations are conducted to validate the optimal current waveforms which are obtained from theoretical derivation.
