Abstract
The paper describes the design of a linearly polarised focusing antenna capable of operating between 18 GHz and 80 GHz. The antenna is part of a multi-octave millimetre wave reflectometer which is being developed as a plasma diagnostic system for use with the Joint European Torus (JET) at Abingdon, England. The same configuration may be exploited in other applications such as multi-frequency microwave thermography and hyperthermia.
