Abstract :
Most of cities are faced with the shortage of water resources in China now. The status of urban water resources is closely related to the utilization of water resources in residential areas. With the increase of consumer demand for comfortable water environment in residential areas, water landscape becomes more and more. Traditional water landscape design often emphasizes using tiles to make the water bottom solid which leads to the degradation of water quality. Tap water and groundwater are used to improve the water quality of water landscape without recycle which may accelerate the shortage of urban water resources. Constructed wetland is an effective way to improve the water quality of water landscape. ´Living water park´ of Chengdu City is no doubt a successful example of constructed wetland which was selected in the urban best practice area of 2010 Shanghai World Expo, but there is no utilization of constructed wetland as ´living water park´ in residential areas of Chengdu City up to now although Chengdu City is also faced with the shortage of water resources. So the possibility of the promotion of ´living water park´ in residential areas of Chengdu City was investigated by questionnaire. The results showed that the lack of understanding of ´living water park´ and traditional water landscape, the lack of recognition of water resources status and the unreasonable water price were the mainly limiting factors.
