  • Abstract
Optical Components, which have been developed over the past 15 years mainly for telecommunication systems, also have the potential for widespread applications in the microwave domain. One of the interesting topics is the transmlssion of microwave via optical waveguldes. Since the fibers are low loss. broad band and flexible channels, the method becomes attractive This paper reviews the state - of - the - art of the basic components to achieve a microwave transmission via optical waveguides. A special attention is given to the wide band light modulators which are now under development. A new type of light modulator is proposed eg : The Tunable Travelling Wave Electro Optic Modulator (TTWEOM)
