Abstract :
The complex scattering matrix [S] represents the polarization signature of targets. In this paper the scattering of a lossy dielectric cylinder with dimensions even in order of the wave-length is investigated. Both, an analytical and a numerical method for theoretical determination of [S] is presented, and a set up for coherent co-and cross-polarization measurements is shown. The comparison of theory and measurement demonstrates a new way to far field determination of the complex dielectric constant E.
