Abstract
This paper proposes Comparative Study between PI and sliding mode controllers in fault tolerant PMSM drive. The proposed drive is a three phase PMSM connected to four leg inverter when the fourth leg is always closed to the neutral point of the machine. The fault tolerance is reached by using a PI and Sliding mode controllers and a modified space vector modulation applied at post fault mode. The PI controller proved that it can keep up a stable operation, in case of an inverter leg is misplaced with acceptable performance. Sliding mode control shows performances better than PI control regards to the value of electromagnetic torque, speed quality and the robustness.
