Abstract :
This paper expounds the important application of the transform thought to solve building template matching problems based on building skeleton matching in large-scale topography map. A new building template matching algorithm via their substitution is proposed. The algorithm workflow is iterative to match pre-defined templates. Skeleton of building polygon is extracted based on point set Voronoi diagram. Trimming and pre-simplification of skeletons is invoked then. Skeleton graph is constructed and skeleton nodes whose degree is below 2 are merged in the next step. Building template is represented as node degree array and matched through array operations. If a building is matched with a template, the algorithm stops; else simplification is needed to forward the simplified skeleton into next template matching circle. Given a building layer of a large scale topographic map sheet, statistical results of building template matching are analyzed for potential application scenarios of building templates.
