Abstract
We propose the application of optimal space interleaving of symbols, which modulate OFDM subcarriers in the general category of layered MIMO OFDM architectures. This interleaving is frequency-dependent as it differs for each OFDM subcarrier and is time-varying in the sense that the interleaving scheme adapts to channel variations over time. Both optimal and suboptimal methods are developed to this end. Computer simulations show the merit of the proposed methods for different configurations.
