Abstract
The submillimeter band forms a transition region between the microwave and visible regions. Both the microwave and visible regions are fully utilized, but in order to use the entire electromagnetic spectrum for the benefit of mankind, we must develop the submillimeter band. This paper summaries recent Japanese work in this area.
