Abstract
The recent explosion accidents of rigid insulating tools for EHV live workings are introduced and long-term electrical aging experiments of 500 kV insulating tools are carried out. Based on these results, the electrical aging breakdown model of long insulating tools under high electric fields is researched and new concepts of effective insulation length and safe use time of insulating tools for live working are also proposed
