Abstract :
Medical electronics plays a predominant role in improving the quality of health and diagnostic therapies. In today´s dominant western culture, health is stressed perhaps more than it has ever before. Vital sign monitoring is becoming increasingly and an essentially important activity for securing independent lives. With the aid of modern technology and better understanding of physiological processes, medical care is experiencing a rapid evolution in both diagnostics and therapeutics. The proposed novel idea is to make a simple device for measuring both biomedical and environmental parameters just from the finger tip with the help of a robotic gripper at low cost, affordable to average class people. Hence the health conditions can be regularly monitored and the necessary corrections can be done in the diet or precautionary steps can be taken up in discussion with the doctors. The principal technique used is photoplethysmography where the measurement of the localized volume changes due to an optically scattering or absorbing substance can be detected. The entire circuitry is processed by using Arduino Mega 1280.
