Based on special topography of the LiShan tunnel of the Hefei-Fuzhou passenger dedicated line in Wuyuan, Jiangxi province, this paper analyzes the vault settlement, surrounding rock stress, initial supporting axis force and supporting bending moment of slopes with different angles to the horizontal plane by the finite element method, which shows: keeping the overburden thickness of tunnel roof invariant, the vault settlement, surrounding rock stress, initial supporting axis force and supporting bending moment will change to some extent when the angle between overburden slope and horizontal plane changes. After further comprehensive analysis, this paper finds the unsymmetrical load of tunnels generated by topography can be omitted because of its limited influence on design and construction when the angle is less than 35 °. But when the angle is more than 35 °, this kind of unsymmetrical load of tunnels must be considered because of its great influence.
