Abstract
After 10 years of operation, the FTU Feedback Control System is being upgraded, with two main goals: i) improve its performances so that it will be able to operate in the future plasma equilibrium configurations; ii) replace the unmaintainable old systems that make up the present Feedback. The new system, still under test, is based on a 300 MHz processor in a VME crate and now it performs the full control cycle in about 100 μs. Fast ADCs without memory have been designed in-house to reduce the input signals acquisition time
