Abstract :
An active compensation technique to improve high-frequency performance of operational transconductance capacitor (OTA-C) filters is presented. The technique consists of minimizing the operational transconductance amplifier´s (OTA´s) excess phase. Each critical OTA is replaced by two OTAs connected in parallel with opposite polarity and different transconductances. The novel feature of this technique is that it does not require tuning to reduce excess phase. This technique yields filters with extended tuning range. The technique is demonstrated by a 6-MHz bandpass filter fabricated in double-metal 3-μm CMOS technology
