Abstract :
We are now living in the age of information. Information is the vital resource in any decision making process. Information technology, as in other fields, can play a significant role in enhancing the productivity of any industrial processes viz., Mining sector, thermal power plants etc., As information technology has advanced from mainframe to minicomputers to PCs as Information Technology has advanced from mainframes to minicomputers to PCs to the World Wide Web. The role of information technology in various fields are; Remote sensing and GIS, exploration and mine planning, environmental management and on human health etc., Here in this paper main emphasis is given to SODAR (Sound Detection and Ranging), which is used to determine mixing height (inversion layer) and stability class of a particular location hence, help in management of air environment.
