  • Abstract
    This paper studied the flow characteristics in Xianghu Reach of Ganjiang River by physical model, analyzed the reasons of Xianghu shoal forming, and brought forward suggestion of regulation engineering. The research summarized three main reasons of Xianghu shoal forming: first, the river way appeared wide and shallow during low water period, which made the flow velocity decrease; second, the Xianghu shoal located at the junction of two branching channels in middle discharge or flood stage, so the state of flow became scattered; third, Xianghu Reach was the transition region of two bends upstream and downstream, and it´s long and straight, which made sediment easy deposit.
