Abstract :
Corner detection in image processing plays an important role in matching, representation, recognition, registration, and computer vision. As one of the template based approaches, the morphological detector has some problems which are still under research, such as the element selection, high computation cost, and inaccurate representation of detected corners. In this paper, a modified morphological method with convex corner points structuring element is proposed in improving running efficiency and detecting accuracy. A new simple structuring element is used in the detector, and the speed performance is improved in a large degree. In experiments, the performance of the new detector is tested on a set of standard images. Six other detectors are involved to provide comparative performance information.
