Abstract
For the lowest insertion loss and simplest implementation devices, which are effective for access networks, an all-fiber solution is preferred. Recent progress in research on optical fiber devices, especially amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise reduction filters, abbreviated as ASE-NR filters, and photonic crystal fiber (PCF) couplers, is presented.
