Abstract
In our communication we are often confused or deceived by our self-reinforced perspective. It is important to establish, reinforce, and utilize contacts with the outside world to balance our natural self-centered point of view. Examples are drawn from areas of life that are different from the typical technical communication experiences. This is to encourage an open examination of the processes by which we operate in our professional and personal lives and to minimize the habit of thinking, "I already know how to do that."
