Abstract :
The paper presents a new method for computing the transformer derating or K-factor for a nonsinusoidal load. Based on the time-domain approach, the K-factor is calculated from the ratio of the square of two RMS current measurements. The new algorithm results in much less computational effort than the conventional frequency-domain approach but the accuracy is maintained
