Abstract :
The paper reports the simulation results of 40 Gbit/s DWDM systems with 0.8 bit/s/Hz spectral efficiency. On the basis of simulations, we optimized the bandwidth of multiplexer, demultiplexer, as well as optical and electrical receiver filters. The calculation of the optimal value of the transmission fibre chromatic dispersion coefficient was performed. Tolerance to the total accumulated chromatic dispersion for NRZ, RZ and duobinary modulation formats is investigated.
