Abstract :
A service differentiation scheme for slotted bufferless optical packet switched (OPS) networks is presented. An analytical model of the proposed scheme in the case of two service classes is derived. Simulations validate the analytical model. By adjusting the number of guaranteed high priority packets that can be transmitted in a time-slot, we achieve an explicit control of the isolation degree between the two service classes. We also show that the average throughput is unaffected by the isolation degree between the two service classes.
