As asset owners, Regional Electricity Companies in the UK have responsibilities for the lifetime care of their assets. New methods of minimising the lifetime costs of assets are constantly being sought. Since privatisation of the industry, new methods of collaboration on issues of common concern have been emerging, and this paper describes the background to, reasons for and outcome of one such venture
