Title :
Optimising power transmission and distribution networks using optical fibre distributed temperature sensing systems
Abstract :
The use of distributed temperature sensing systems for the temperature monitoring of buried and sub-sea power cables has been well proven in many applications over the last ten years. Extending the use of these systems to other critical assets will provide an opportunity to manage networks more effectively. Utilising assets in this way reduces the need for reinforcement, releases capital for other infrastructure projects and minimises environmental disturbance
