Abstract :
We propose a method for the estimation of smoothness on the preferential orientations of an anisotropic image. The method associates the utilization of the Hyperanalytic Wavelet Packet Transform, for the identification of the preferential orientations of the image considered and for the separation of the details corresponding at each such direction, with the utilization of a Hurst exponent estimator for the evaluation of smoothness.
