Abstract :
The density expansion of the conduction-band energy minimum V0(n) of excess electrons in simple fluids is investigated inthe framework of multiple-scattering theory. It is shown that V0 is not an analytic function of the density n. However, excluded volume effects are considered in a quadratic expansion approximation. In the particular case of fluid argon, it is shown that such an expansion of V0 including the screening of the polarization interaction successfully accounts for the overall V0(n) behavior up to the triple-point density
