  • Abstract
The article selects the ten landslides events (Ruili village, Meishan Township, Chiayi County; Xiaolin village, Gyixian Township, Kaohsiung County; Hsinfa village, Luiguei Township, Kaohsiung County; Haocha village, Wutai Township, Pingtung County; Jilu village, Wutai Township, Pingtung County; Genshen village, Taoyuan Township, Kaohsiung County and Laiyi village, Laiyi Township, Pingtung County) which evoked very large landslide (landslide area at least 50 hectares or more, or at least the amount of debris accumulation of 1,000,000 cubic meters) by typhoon Morakot during August 6-10, 2009. In order to analyze the relationship of hydrological characteristics (total accumulated rainfall and rainfall intensity, etc.) to induce large landslides and the coupled geological conditions which induced large-scale landslides by low cumulative rainfall.
